Here’s a link to the latest version of the Detector ISE

And here is a screenshot:

It’s still a work in progress, but its current features are :

– A real-time graph which shows you the count rate as read by the detector which should react instantly to changes the user makes in the lab. This incorporates a “dark count” which is a randomised small count rate which is always present whether or not any lights are on.
– A light in the lab room which you can toggle on and off as well as use a dimmer to slowly increase and reduce room light levels.
-A warning which is triggered by having both the light levels high and the Detector on
-A Laser button which so far only turns on the “LASER ON” sign and doesn’t actually impact the graph.
– A switch which toggles the detector on and off.
– An information box which, when you hover over certain parts of the ISE will inform the user about the different features or direct them to click on apparatus to learn more  about them.
-When the lab’s detector is clicked, the user is able to drag the lid off of the detector, look inside and learn information about the components.

In many cases the actual information isn’t there but the functionality to add the information is!

Interactive Screen Experiments

I will be posting the latest versions of the ISE’s here. I’ll be posting a web link using which you can view the current progress, but as I’m using dropbox as a web server there are some problems using certain web browsers:

-Using Internet Explorer it’s necessary to press “Show all content” when a security warning comes up.

-Google Chrome’s security settings doesn’t to my knowledge work at all.

As far as I know all other browsers including Firefox and Safari are fine. These should also work on touchscreens although haven’t been tested to any great extent yet…

That’s all I think!
